Wreckquiem Press Launch
Pigtown Productions presents
WRECKQUIEM
with Pat Shortt, Patrick Ryan, Joan Sheehy, Sade Malone and Mark O’Regan.
Directed by Andrew Flynn.
Before it hits the Lime Tree Theatre stage this summer, Wreckquiem, the brand new comedy from award-winning playwright Mike Finn, was officially launched on Monday June 3rd at 6pm at The Strand Hotel, Limerick. To mark the occasion, Mike Finn and the creative team will be joined by Jim Lockhart and Eamon Carr of legendary Irish rock band Horslips, whose musical spirit echoes throughout the play’s world of worn vinyl, cult classics, and second-hand treasures.
WRECKQUIEM will have its world premiere at Lime Tree Theatre, Limerick,
running from Wednesday June 25 to Saturday July 8, 2025.
Book tickets here.
Step out of the day-to-day grind and join the motley crew at Dessie’s Discs, everyone’s favourite second-hand record store. Crammed full of pre-loved vinyl, scratched CDs, dog-eared gig posters and dusty merch, over at Dessie’s you’ll find Dylan on the decks, Horslips on the walls, and the faded yellow remnants of social distancing stickers beneath your feet.
With an eclectic soundtrack, amped up laughs and a bargain bin of K-Tel compilations, Wreckquiem is a heartfelt and hilarious look at the characters clinging to community in the face of change. Directed by Andrew Flynn (The Ferryman, The Lieutenant of Inishmore), the show stars:
Pat Shortt as Dessie, the besieged record store owner
Patrick Ryan as Paulie, the obsessive collector
Joan Sheehy as Maeve, the local genealogy guru
Sade Malone as Chantelle, a wannabe fashion designer
Mark O’Regan as Fintan, a flashy developer with plans for the shop
At its core, Wreckquiem is a story about hope, friendship, and why owning eight copies of Sergeant Pepper’s is totally justified.
Wreckquiem is made possible with the support of The Arts Council of Ireland, Limerick City and County Council, Limerick Arts Office, and Lime Tree Theatre. With thanks to Hospitality Partner, The Limerick Strand Hotel.
