The Bualadh Bos Human Library

Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival 2021

The Bualadh Bos Human Library

Belltable Hub | Saturday 9th October | 12:15pm to 2:45pm

This is a drop-in event.

Capacity is limited to six children in each drop-in session

The Human Library is a series of fun “drop-in” sessions with some of our favourite artists. Children of all ages are invited to meet four professional artists – who all have very different stories to tell. We will be joined by children’s author Dave Rudden, Syrian musician Hala Jabar, aerial dancer Jennifer de Brún and creative illustrator Duffy Mooney Sheppard.

The Belltable Hub will transform into four unique artist studios. Participating children will have the opportunity to meet all four artists in four twenty-minute sessions in each of the four spaces. Children are welcome to ask questions, to talk about their own artwork, to explore, invent and to dream up some of their own artist creations. The Bualadh Bos Human Library allows children to be curious and imaginative, and represents a fun filled opportunity to learn something new about many different artforms.

Duffy Mooney Sheppard | IIlustrator: Duffy is a story maker, writer and illustrator. She specialises in making work for children and she also creates art workshops and creative programs for children, their families and schools. Play, curiosity and kindness are ideas at the heart of all of Duffy’s work. She loves coming up with new stories and images. She is inspired by philosophy, folklore and the natural world. Duffy is excited to be involved in Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival for the first time.

Dave Rudden | Author: Ever dreamed of being a writer? Ever wondered how to turn an idea into a book, or a movie, or a TV show? Do you have important questions about beards that keep you up at night? Join award-winning author Dave Rudden (KNIGHTS OF THE BORROWED DARK, DOCTOR WHO) for a event where you and your kids can ask just about anything about writing, crisps and how to be cruel to fictional children. Find out how to come up with inspiring heroes and dreadful villains.

Jennifer De Brún | Aerial Dancer: Do you love to dance? Have you ever dreamed of running away with the circus? Join renowned circus performer and professional dancer, Dr Jennifer de Brún for an event where she will answer any questions you have on what it is like to perform hanging from a crane, run on the side of building, or dance in front of thousands of people.

Hala Jabar | Musician: Children of all ages are invited to join Hala on a discovery journey to question and understand the magic of music-making. Everyday we listen to music, dance around to it, hum it in the shower or blast it out on the radio to cheer ourselves up. Do you ever stop and wonder about the person composing or playing the music? What exactly does it mean to be a musician? Do you play an instrument?  Hala will chat to music lovers based in Limerick of all ages.
