Open Call for Artists: Discovering Theatre for Young Audiences

Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival and the Talking TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences Ireland) Network is thrilled to announce a funded Artist Training opportunity.

Discovering TYA Day: Friday 2nd October 2026

This programme offers artists and artist collectives working in any artistic discipline a unique opportunity to explore professional Theatre for Young Audience practice. Participants will attend two theatre for Young Audience Shows at the Lime Tree Theatre and Belltable, Limerick, meet with established artists, and enhance their professional development through a purposely designed critical response framework.

Discovering TYAI Day is produced in association with the Talking TYA Research Network, Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable, Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival and MIC.

Date/Time: Friday 2nd October from 9am-4pm

Venues: Belltable at 69 O’Connell Street, Limerick & Lime Tree Theatre on the MIC campus

What you will attend:

• Aston’s Stones by Theatre Pero, Sweden
• How to Catch a Star by Branar, Ireland
• And a critical response workshop session with Dr Fiona McDonagh and Dr Dorothy Morrissey

Remuneration:

Artists will be offered a €150 stipend, as well as complimentary tickets to the events.

How to Apply:

Places are extremely limited. (Maximum of 4 artists).

Please include you name, address and contact phone number. Places will be offered on a first come first served basis. We are sorry that we won’t be able to accommodate every applicant.

Terms & Conditions:

• Full attendance from 9am to 4pm on the day is required.
• Opportunity is open to professional artists and arts practitioners.
• Full schedule for the day and meeting point etc. will be shared with the chosen artists ahead of the 2nd October.
• Stipend will be paid after the event date, following receipt of an invoice.
• Travel and accommodation costs are not included.
