We are thrilled to introduce Hala Jaber, our new Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable Artist-in-Residence for 2023. This new residency allows professional artists the time, space and support to strengthen their practice as a theatre-maker.
Hala Jaber is a Palestinian community musician. She obtained her Doctorate degree in Arts Practice (music) at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, UL. Hala is a classical flute player, with vast experience in facilitating and running community arts-based initiatives, and leading music groups both in Ireland and Palestine. She is a commissioner in the Community Music Commission with the International Society of Music Education. She is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the UL; she is investigating the creation of trauma informed practice training for community artists working in the context of post-conflict migration.
Hala will be working on a project aimed at understanding the use of music and singing, combined with social gatherings, as a way to engage with migrant communities in Limerick. Starting with groups of women, and aiming to expand the workshops to include early adolescence and young adults.
If you would like to contact Hala about the project, please email email@example.com.
