Shakir Khan; Magical Strings of Sitar

Shakir Khan, a sitar maestro, represents the eighth generation of musicians in the renowned Etawah Gharana, a lineage celebrated for its contributions to Hindustani classical music.
His father and guru, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, is a legendary sitarist, while his paternal grandfather, Ustad Aziz Khan, and great-grandfather, Ustad Wahid Khan, were prominent musicians who specialized in the surbahar.
Shakir’s family heritage also includes his grand-uncle, the illustrious Ustad Vilayat Khan, a pivotal figure in Indian classical music. His artistry blends this rich heritage with his personal innovations, capturing audiences at renowned festivals in India, such as the Dover Lane Music Conference, Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival, and the Tansen Music Festival.
His international performances include Woodstock in Poland, “Taalism” in Germany, and “Human Evolution” in Spain, as well as a recent appearance at Riverside Ragas in the UK.
