Shakir Khan, a sitar maestro, represents the eighth generation of musicians in the renowned Etawah Gharana, a lineage celebrated for its contributions to Hindustani classical music.

His father and guru, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, is a legendary sitarist, while his paternal grandfather, Ustad Aziz Khan, and great-grandfather, Ustad Wahid Khan, were prominent musicians who specialized in the surbahar.

Shakir’s family heritage also includes his grand-uncle, the illustrious Ustad Vilayat Khan, a pivotal figure in Indian classical music. His international performances include Woodstock in Poland, “Taalism” in Germany, and “Human Evolution” in Spain, as well as a recent appearance at Riverside Ragas in the UK.
