Presentation of the Kate O’Brien Award for 2026
Presented by Limerick Literary Festival in Honour of Kate O’Brien
The nominations are Water in the Desert Fire in the Night by Gethan Dick (Tramp Press) , Assembling Ailish by Sharon Guard (Poolbeg), The Wardrobe Department by Elaine Garvey (Cannongate), Ordinary Saints by Niamh Ni Mhaoileoin (Manilla Press an imprint of Bonnier Books).
The shortlisted writers will be talking about and reading from their books in a special event. It will provides a wonderful opportunity for readers and writers to listen to, ask questions of and meet new writers at the beginning of their careers. The prize this year is €5000, very kindly sponsored by Bill and Denise Whelan.
