Following the national launch of his autobiography, Obsessed, this coming October, I.NY welcome Johnny Sexton to Limerick for an evening of conversation about his singular career, his rugby relationship with Munster, and a celebration of his connections across the province.
In conversation with The Irish Times’ Denis Walsh, and on the weekend the city welcomes the All Blacks back to Thomond Park, the evening will centre on Johnny’s career – one adorned with four European Cups, four Six Nations championships, two Grand Slams, unprecedented victories in the Southern Hemisphere, two stints for Ireland at number 1 in the world, and the World Player of the Year award in 2018.
As a particular Munster Invitation, the evening will also celebrate Johnny’s family connections in Limerick, Kerry and across the province, and explore his unique relationship with Munster, Munster Rugby, and the players with whom he shared the field for Ireland and the Lions.
Welcoming a limited public audience to the Lime Tree Theatre, Johnny will be in conversation with Denis Walsh, the acclaimed Irish Times journalist, and former sports-writer with The Sunday Times. Denis has covered Irish rugby for three decades, and ghost-wrote the autobiographies of Ronan O’Gara and Donncha O’Callaghan. He wrote one of the great GAA books, Hurling: The Revolution Years, on the transformation of the sport in the early 1990s, and continues to write expertly across a variety of sports, including golf, horse-racing and the Olympics, along with his regular GAA writing.
Johnny Sexton | A Munster Invitation is presented by I.NY, in partnership with Catapult, and in association with Limerick’s International Rugby Experience.
Copies of Johnny’s autobiography, Obsessed, will be available for purchase on the night.
