The Oscar-winning musician announces his first Limerick date since 2017 – an intimate solo show at Belltable.

Glen Hansard is the lead singer and founding member of The Frames, and one half of The Swell Season. Together with Czech pianist and vocalist Markéta Irglová, they share an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly,” from the film Once, in which they both starred.

Glen Hansard is playing a short run of intimate solo shows in aid of Ukrainian Action in Ireland, having just returned from a North American tour combining his own headline shows with dates supporting Pearl Jam on their stadium tour. He has released five solo albums, including the Grammy-nominated Didn’t He Ramble (2015). His most recent solo album, All That Was East Is West Of Me Now, was released in October of last year. 

Ukrainian Action are a registered charity set up in response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine by a group of Irish and Ukrainian volunteers, who came together with the aim to help Ukrainians in need, foster Irish-Ukrainian friendship, and contribute to the integration of Ukrainian refugees into the Irish society.

I.NY has welcomed a wide range of artists and speakers to its festivals and events since 2017, including U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, designer Orla Kiely, NYPD Commissioner James P. O’Neill, The New Yorker’s Deborah Treisman, former Irish rugby captain Johnny Sexton, authors Roddy Doyle, Anne Enright and Joseph O’Connor, musicians Radie Peat, David Holmes, Lisa Hannigan and Martin Hayes, former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, and many more.
