Once Upon A Time At A Cinema Screening with Q&A
Belltable is delighted to host a special homegrown cinematic event this June with Once Upon A Cinema, screenings on Monday, June 8th at 5pm and 8pm.
Directed by David Gleeson, Once Upon A Cinema is a love letter to the magic of film. It explores how cinema has shaped audiences, communities, and creative lives across generations. Notably, much of the film was shot in Limerick, grounding its sweeping reflection on cinema in the textures and character of the city itself. For local audiences, it offers the added joy of seeing familiar places such as the Theatre Royal and celebrating Limerick’s growing role as a vibrant hub for filmmaking. A Special Evening Screening + Q&A
The 8pm screening will be followed by a live Q&A with director David Gleeson, facilitated by Limerick’s own Jayne Foley, offering a deeper dive into the making of the film and its local connections.
This post-screening discussion will explore not only the creative process behind Once Upon A Cinema, but also the experience of filming in Limerick and the importance of regional voices and locations in Irish filmmaking today. It’s a chance to hear first-hand how the city helped shape the film, and how stories rooted in place can resonate far beyond it.
