Fishamble: The New Play Company, in association with Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable, Galway International Arts Festival and Traverse Theatre
present the preview of
For Dolores
by Eva O’Connor
9-11 July Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable
Details have been announced of the world premiere production of a new work from award-winning writer Eva O’Connor (Maz and Bricks, Chicken, Scotsman Fringe First winner – MUSTARD)
For Dolores, an intoxicating story of two women bound by love, friendship and motherhood, who push every limit too far, will preview from 9-11 July Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable, ahead of its official world premiere on 16 July at the Mick Lally Theatre, Galway as part of Galway International Arts Festival (from 14-18 July). The production will then transfer to the Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire for 5 days only from 22-26 July before heading to Edinburgh for its UK premiere at the Traverse Theatre in August.
Director Jim Culleton leads the creative team of Set & Costume Designer Alyson Cummins, Lighting Designer Suzie Cummins, Composer & Sound Designer Denis Clohessy, Choreographer Nóra Ní Anluain Fay and Dramaturg Gavin Kostick.
The cast have been announced as Lara McDonnell (played the title role on the West-End in Matilda, and Mary Warren in The Crucible at the Gaiety Theatre) and Catriona Faint (played Sebastian in an all female/non-binary cast of The Tempest at Tron Theatre).
This production builds on the previous collaborations between Eva O’Connor and Fishamble – the 2018/2019 production of Maz and Bricks, produced by Fishamble and directed by Jim Culleton, which toured in the run up to and aftermath of the Repeal the 8th referendum, as well as the 2022 Scotsman Fringe First-winning MUSTARD, co-produced by Fishamble, which was adapted for screen for RTÉ Storyland. In 2024 Eva was also a writer on Fishamble’s trilingual project Taigh, Tŷ, Teach which toured to Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

For Dolores:
“When beautiful worlds collide”
Mo (the Scottish one) and Réaltín (the Irish one) partied, played and blazed their way through the Edinburgh student dream.
Set in Glasgow a couple of years later, For Dolores is about friendship, motherhood and coming to terms with your worst mistakes.
Like twin stars in obsessive orbit, it’s a friendship, a rivalry and an adventure. Risk is a delicious pleasure: until it all explodes in the blink of an eye.
How far will they go for love?
