Refuge by Deirdre Kinahan
Presented by Fishamble The New Play Company
All war… it starts with stories, starts with lies.
Fishamble and Staatstheater Mainz (Germany) present the Irish premiere of REFUGE by Deirdre Kinahan. This production, in association with Pavilion and Lime Tree Theatre, features a cast and creative team from both Ireland and Germany.
In 1710, a group of Palatines fled religious persecution in Germany and were offered refuge in Rathkeale, County Limerick.
Blending theatre with live music and dance, REFUGE traces their journey and explores the enduring connections between displaced communities of the past and those seeking safety today.
What messages would the settlers of the past be shouting to communities searching for refuge, safety and peace in our world now?
