Future Limerick: Free Family Fun Day
Future Limerick: Climate Arts Festival kicks off next Monday, 16th May and runs until Saturday, 21st May. We want to highlight the Free Family Fun Day which takes place in People’s Park on Saturday, 21st from 11am – 4pm. It’s a perfect day out for the kids, bring the picnic and spend a few hours in city centre with all the family. Roam around the park to see what tickles your fancy!
Fidget Feet Aerial Dance performance
Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Company’s performances are always popular with kids, they will take to the sky and perform three times over the day 12pm, 1.10pm and 2pm. Fidget Feet are always pretty spectacular so don’t miss them.
Two other great events to watch out for are:
Drop in Creative Exploration workshop
Explore an imagined future together with artist Chelsea Canavan by creating a large collaborative art piece in the park exploring multi-species living and community. This workshop is a process based visual arts activity, with facilitated conversation and prompts for imaginary futures.
The Listening Tree
The Listening Tree from artist Catherine Ireton is an audio-haptic installation, inviting visitors to stand or sit next to a tree, put their ear to the bark and to listen. This beautiful and inspiring workshop allows people a chance to have some intimate time with a tree. The installation is gentle and accessible for any age, with music and audio taking inspiration from Mary Oliver’s poem “When I am among the trees” as well as the teachings of Peter Wohlleben about how trees communicate. There may be moments to interact where the audience is invited to sing or hum, and the tree responds.
There will also be a kids’ drumming workshop, circus performances, stilt walkers and a clothes swap: visitors of all ages are invited to bring unwanted clothes and take home something nice.
All are welcome, entry is free.
